Our Mission:  We make a positive difference in people’s lives one step at a time through truly great service and products.

CHANGING THE GAME

We Believe:

  • In living the Golden Rule.
  • In offering outstanding products and excellent, caring service.
  • In making a positive difference in the community through service, and sponsoring and supporting local races.
  • In hiring people who love to run, have expertise in running and care about our fabulous customers.

OUR JOURNEY:

From the onset, we have been committed to providing outstanding service to our communities. We understand that a running store isn’t just about products, it’s about people. Running is our passion, and this is our story:

2012

Bought Foot of the Rockies – Ft. Collins CO

In March of 2012 we bought the original Colorado running shoe store – Foot of the Rockies – from John Lonsdale who is a legend of local running in the Ft. Collins area. We rebranded the store, remodeled it and restocked it with great brands and products.

2014

Doubled Sales Revenue

Ft. Collins was thirsting for great customer service and high quality running/walking products. With an emphasis on caring for our customers we quickly doubled our revenue.

2019

Bought Bells Running – Greeley, Colorado

To strengthen our northern Colorado presence we bought Bells Running in Greeley. We rebranded and remodeled the store. In addition, we restocked it with more brands, more shoes, and more running products. Nate Grimm became our next great store manager.

2021

Moved the Ft. Collins Store Near Raintree Athletic Club

Although we hated leaving our old location, we are thrilled with both the location and style of our new store near Drake and Shields. New location, same great service and great products!

Mike Callor

Mike Callor is a true runner. He began running in high school and soon found out he had real talent. Not only did he run in high school, but at the collegiate level at Colorado Christian University from which he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. He also has a Master’s degree in Human Performance and Coaching. He is also the Cross Country and Track and Field coach at Thompson Valley High School. He’s impacted countless high school runners by his positivity, calm demeanor and attention to detail. For several years now he has set a goal to run 100 miles in one week and done it! Mike is our store manager and has over 20 years experience in the running business. He understands the running business inside and out.

Jeff and Sally Carney

Jeff and Sally are the owners of Altitude Running.  Like our great store partners, Jeff loves to run and to share that joy with others.  Sally handles all the behind the scenes tasks and responsibilities.  We couldn’t function without her.

Jeff has been the head coach of cross country at Summit Ridge Middle School for many years.   Beside his kids and grandkids, it’s one of his greatest joys.  His mission is to uplift, inspire and make a positive difference in kids’ lives. He believes distance running teaches phenomenal life lessons such as perseverance, hard work, integrity and camaraderie.  Are there any better kids than cross country runners?! Nope!

Jeff received his Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University in Marketing and his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Utah. He works full time for Franklin Covey leading their efforts to change the lives of inmates and staff within prisons and jails through the 7 Habits on the Inside program.

He and his wife – Sally – have four children – Kyle, Katy, Danny and Bradley.  His passions include working with the youth, coaching, backpacking, fly fishing, skiing, and of course, running.

Jesse Hayward

Jesse is one of our running consultants and has been at our Greeley Location since the summer of 2020. Jesse is currently attending the University of Northern Colorado studying Sport & Exercise Science as well as Psychology. He also competes for the University’s Cross Country and Track teams and specializes in Middle to Long Distance. Jesse has lived in Greeley his entire life and has a heart for serving the people in his community!

Michael Kallsen

Just a city boy, born and raised in South Greeley, and 2001 graduate of Greeley West High School; growing up Michael despised running, and chose sports that meant he did not have to run (bowling, reading, baseball). He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Adams State, and an MA in Student Affairs Leadership from UNC and has run 8 marathons including the 2009 Boston Marathon and has a pb of 2:47 at the 2012 Houston Marathon, in addition to running many half marathons, 10ks and 5ks. In his role as a Running Consultant, he is excited to help you find the shoes, gear or inspiration to get out and run or walk; you should ask him about the runDisney series, or his favourite books about running.

Devon Bortfeld

Devon (she/her) has been working with Altitude since 2019, when she moved from the rainy, O2-saturated Washington to the skinny Colorado mountain air for her Ph.D. in counseling psychology. Devon has been running ever since she had too much energy to know what to do with, starting out in baby-club track and moving all the way through college track and cross country. You can find Devon frolicking in the mountains and vastly overestimating her aerobic abilities. When Devon isn’t trail-running, you can find her curling up at one of the local Greeley coffee shops or binge watching The Great British Bake Off.

Nate Grimm

Nate is our Manager at our Greeley location (We acquired Bell’s Running in August of 2019). Nate has been calling himself a runner his whole life and created his life around promoting health and wellness. Nate has experience running multiple half marathons, trail races, 5ks, track and field and even some 200 mile relay races. Nate also has his own private coaching business, Endurance Matters. He has a master’s degree in exercise physiology and is dedicated to helping you get out the door and be fit any way you can!
